The Cedar Vale Jail is presumed to have been built after 1921, according to The County Liner and Cedar Vale Commercial Dec. 16, 1921 “Cedar Vale’s jail was burned on the night the armistice was signed and since that time we have not needed a booby-hatch.” It would have probably been abandoned in the 1930s-50s time frame when most calabooses were abandoned and law enforcement became more advanced.
