Not much is known about the “bear cage” jail cell located at the Barton County Museum. It is alleged that this jail cell once belonged to the City of Claflin and was provided by the Army. After it became unused it’s said that the jail was stored in a shop building for years. The jail was then used in the 1972 Great Bend Bicentennial and donated to the museum grounds afterward.
