The small jail cell that now sits outside of Anderson County Historical Society is from the small town of Westphalia Kansas. This single cell is typical of the time period with a built-in bunk and made of metal to prevent escape.
Since the town never really boomed it probably didn’t get a ton of use outside of the occasional drunken lockup. Upon attempting to research the jail I came across another town called Westphalia in Missouri, and shockingly they ALSO had a calaboose. This one was concrete and still lay in its original site also open to the public courtesy of Westphalia Historical Society.

They need to use jail like this on nice days and people arrested for minor stuff use it as a teaching moment and humility for the one that was arrested.
